Observations
SuperResolution, a unique case in this comparison. testo is the only manufacturer to publish the IFOV achieved AFTER processing. The 872s goes from 2.3 mrad natively to 1.3 mrad in SuperResolution. In other words, testo quantifies the actual spatial-resolution gain instead of just advertising a pixel count. The technique relies on combining several slightly offset images, which genuinely adds new information, unlike software resampling of a single image.
ε-Assist automatically determines both emissivity AND reflected temperature using a reference sticker: no other device in this comparison offers this.
IFOV warning. A square cursor on-screen shows the real size of the measurement spot at the targeted distance, preventing you from measuring an object smaller than the spot. It's the most instructive feature found so far, and it exists nowhere else in the database.
Measures ambient conditions via external radio probes (humidity, current clamp) and includes mold-risk detection.
