    Observations

    • AN ENTRY-LEVEL MODEL IN HIKMICRO'S M SERIES, rounding out the already-covered M15, M20, and M31 in this comparison. The manufacturer's own official comparison table places this model at the bottom of the range on three counts at once: the smallest sensor (160 × 120 versus 384 × 288 for the M31), the widest pixel pitch (17 µm versus 12 µm), and the most degraded IFOV (2.74 mrad versus 1.74 for the M20 and M11, which are actually cheaper going by their position in the range). It's the only model in the M series documented with manual focus rather than fixed or automatic, setting this entry-level positioning apart from equivalent fixed-optic smartphone modules.
    • A narrow 25° field of view instead of the usual 50° seen on competing entry-level modules — not necessarily a flaw, but a positioning choice favoring remote inspection over wide-area scanning.
