Observations
A high-temperature version of the already-covered TG268 in this comparison. Same 160 × 120 sensor, same housing according to the shared datasheet, but the range is extended to 1080°C and the distance-to-spot ratio improved to 30:1 versus 24:1, at the cost of dropping the type K contact thermocouple reserved for the TG268. Illustrates a clear trade-off between measurement versatility (TG268) and extreme range (TG298) within a single product pair, on the same model as the already-documented SP40/SP40H pair at HIKMICRO.
A 30:1 distance-to-spot ratio, identical to the already-covered FLIR TG297, but on a sensor with four times less resolution (160 × 120 versus 640 × 480 for the TG297): two very different devices despite a comparable high-temperature range.
