Digital zoom discrepancy between sources. Some retailers advertise a 2× zoom, others 4× for the same model; we use the value most frequently cited by marine specialist retailers.

Observations
An entirely new category in this comparison. A marine thermal camera, mounted on a mast or dashboard, with 360° rotation and ±90° tilt, controlled remotely from a multifunction navigation display. No screen, battery, or memory card of its own: it runs as a continuous IP video stream connected to a third-party navigation system, on the same fixed-camera principle as the Optris PI 640 already covered in this comparison, but for maritime safety rather than industrial monitoring.
Detection use, not measurement. Designed to spot boats, buoys, obstacles, or people in the water in total darkness, without displaying or recording any temperature value usable by the end user. Excluded from this site's scoring system for that reason, following the same logic as the land-based observation devices already documented (hunting, night vision).
Optional ClearCruise function, which automatically alerts the helmsman if a 'non-aquatic' object appears in the field of view — an automated image analysis absent from the rest of the catalog.
